2. a conjunction of maner

As I see . . . = wie

3. a conjunction of reason : da or weil

eg., As he is the only one who knoes . . .


4. it may also be an adverb ( so or ebenso ), and in comparisons of equality,
as tall as : so groß wie ich.


5. as a teacher : als lehrer;
as an Englishman : als Engländer
