German : subordinating conjunctions
1. They are called subordinating conjunctions because they introduce a subordinate clause, ie., one which could NOT form a sentence on its OWN, but which depends upon the main clause.
2. These conjunctions send the verb to the END of the clause. In other words, the verb is always the LAST element of a subordinate clause.
3. The chief subordinating conjunctions are: 17

4. da (as, since)
5. damit (in order that )
6. daß (that )
7. indem (while)
8. nachdem (after)
9. ob ( whether )
10. obgleich , obwohl ( although )
11. seitdem ( since (time, not cuase ))

13. weil (because )
14. wenn ( if ,whenever )
15. wie (how )
16. wo (where )
