p.74 神機啟動 2 (ie. how reason realises itself? )

1. . . . that reason rules the world, and consequently its history, and continues to do so. In relation to this Universal Substance which exists in and for itself, everything else is in a subordinate position nd acts only as a MEANS to SERVE its interests.

2. This universal reason EXISTS as an immanent ( 內在的 ) principle within history, in which and through which it FULFILS itself.

3. That the union of the universal substance, which exists in and for itself, with the particular ( 個別的) and the subjective ( 主體的), is the SOLE truth, is a speculative proposition which is dealt with in this general form by logic.

4. But in the actual process of world history, seen as something as yet incomplete, we fins that the subjective element or consciousness is [NOT] yet in a position to know the true nature of the ultimate END of history , the concept of the spirit.

5. For the latter (ie. spirit) has NOT YET become the content of its (ie. subjective element, consciousness) needs and interests;

6. and although the subjective consciousness is still UNAWARE of it, the universal substance is nevertheless PRESENT ( 呈現) in its particular ENDS and REALISES itself through them.
