1. We have defined the goal of history as consisting in the spirit's development towards self-consciousness, or in its making the world confirm to itself (for the two are identical).

2. It might equally be said that the spirit PRODUCES its concepts ou of itself, OBJECTIVISES it, and thus BECOMES the being of its OWN concept;

3. it becomes CONSCIOUS OF itself in the objective world so that it may attain its slavation:

4. for as soon as the objective world CONFORMS to its internal requirements, it has REALISED its FREEDOM.

5. . . . we must acknowledge that the consciousness must undergo various stages of development before it becomes AWARE OF( 察覺 ) its OWN essential nature.
