the 3 basic principles of the Wissenschaftslehre
1. . . . that self and not-self MUTUALLY determine each other;
2. . . . that the self posits itself as DETERMINED BY the not-self;
3. . . . that the self posits itself as DETERMINING the not-self .
A finite being is finite only as an intelligence; the practical legislating, which he is to have common with the infinite, can depend on nothing outside himself.
The absolute elf must therefore be CAUSE of the not-self, insofar as the latter is the ultimate ground of ALL presentation; and the not-self must to that extent be its EFFECT.
