German word order : position of verb

1. the finite verb may be the SECOND element in the sentence, as is most frequently the case, so that this is often called NORMAL ORDER.

2. the verb may be the FIRST element, as in many questions.

3. the verb may be the LAST element, as in subordinate clauses.

It is Because the WHOLE sub-ordinate clauses is counted as the FIRST element.
Therefore, the the first word after the COMMA is the VERB which is t he SECOND element.
