B) The realisation of spirit in history

1. To try to define reason in itself -- if we conside reason in relation to the world -- amounts to asking what the ultmate end of the world is; and we cannot speak of ultimate end without implying that this end is DESTINED to be accomplished or realised.

2. We therefore have two points to consider: firstly , i) the CONTENT of the ultimate end itself -- ie., its DEFINITION as such-- and secondly ii), its REALISATION.
