German : Inseparable prefixes x2

1. if on the other hand, the inseparable prefix precedes the separable one, the verb will be an inseparable one throughout.

2. In the rare case, where a double prefix separable prefix consists of TWO separable ones, they behave like a single separable prefix, eg.

voraussagen
voraussetzen

Wir hatten vorausgesetzt, daß du um diese Zeit zu Hause bist.

3. Those prefixes which may be EITHER inseparable (and unstressed) or separable (and stressed) ie., " durch-" , " um-" , " über-" and " wieder-" are worth careful attention.

i. Er hat ganz England durchreist.
vs
Er reise ohne Schwierigkeit durch.

ii. Sie haben die Vorshrift übertreten.
vs
Der Fluß trat über.

iii. Der himmer ist mit wolken umzogen.
vs
Wir sind vor zwei Wochen umgezogen.
