「 一國兩制 」名存實亡 「 變相公投 」未懼打壓

─社會民主連線關於自由黨棄選的聲明

鑒於自由黨棄甲曳兵，宣佈放棄參加補選，社民連認為這是「一國兩制」名存實亡的表現。

連日來建制派就「 起義 」兩字大造文章，如今自由黨竟以「 怕被人扭曲為贊同『起義』」作藉口掩飾事實，不免令人失笑；如果自由黨真的認為「 起義 」是言辭激烈，而「 理性的市民不會支持 」，則自由黨參加補選必然大勝，豈能放棄機會落荒而逃？

作為一個政黨，理應力爭議席，以利用議會作一平台，宣揚並傳播其政治理念。今自由黨只因北京一聲令下，就未戰先降，不敢面對民主的挑戰，除證明該黨毫無獨立人格可言，亦反映北京已無懼撕破「一國兩制」的畫皮，粗暴干涉本土政治生態，等同宣布「 一國兩制 」名存實亡，對此社民連表示無限遺憾。

再者，公社兩黨不過手執五封辭職信，如此卻一再被說成「 武裝起義 」，那已經不單是歪曲事實，而是打壓言論自由。然而，「 五區公投 」運動不會因為打壓及抵制戛然而止，社民連將與 公民黨商討如何調整策略，務求所有支持民主的香港市民，都能利用手中神聖的一票，響亮地表達「落實真普選，廢除功能組別」的決心。
